Regarding lands held by knight service of John son and heir of Richard de Veer, late earl of Oxford , who held of Henry V. John is a minor in the king’s wardship.

He held no lands or tenements in demesne or service of John son and heir of Richard Veer, late earl of Oxford , who held of ‪Henry V‬ in chief, John being a minor in the king’s wardship.

Long before his death he granted 4 parts of the manor of Hildersham divided into 5 parts, with the advowson of the church of Hildersham, and 40 a. land, 40 a. pasture, 2 a. meadow and 6s. 8d. rent in the vill[s] of Great Abington, Little Abington and Little Linton, described as 4 parts of all lands and tenements in these vills, to Walter de la Pole, knight , William Goodred, junior , John Burgoyne , Matthew West, clerk , Adam Bryan, clerk , John Leycestre, clerk , and William Lolleworth , their heirs and assigns, to hold of the chief lords of those fees by the services due and customary by right, as in his deed shown to the jurors and dated 5 March 1425. The 4 parts, land, pasture, meadow and rent were formerly those of Robert Parys, esquire , and Walter, William, John, Matthew, Adam, John and William lately had them by enfeoffment of Henry as contained more fully in the charter. Walter, William, John, Matthew, Adam, John and William were and are still seised. The 4/5 manor with the advowson are held of John son and heir of Richard Veer, late earl of Oxford , by service of a knight’s fee. They are worth 24 marks yearly, the advowson 10 marks when it falls. The land, pasture, meadow and rent and 4/5 of lands and tenements in the vills are held of the duke of Bedford of the honour of Richmond, services unknown, annual value 40s.
He held the following in his demesne as of fee tail by grant of Thomas Blakeyn and John Siluerley, chaplain .
Linton, 4/5 manor, of the duke of Bedford of the honour of Richmond by service of a knight’s fee, annual value £18
; and
4/5 tenement called ‘Mekelottes’, of William Alyngton of his manor of Barham by knight service, annual value 40s.
Babraham, a tenement, of the duke of Bedford of the honour[s] of Richmond, services unknown, annual value 20s.
Shudy Camps, a tenement, of William Burre ’s heirs of the honour of Richmond and Mountfitchet, services unknown, annual value 6s. 8d.
He held
4 parts of the manor of Duxford, divided into 5 parts, with the advowson of Duxford church, in his demesne as of fee tail by grant of Thomas Blaken’ , chaplain, and John Siluerley, chaplain . The 4/5 are held of Roger Louel of his manor of Boxworth of the Scalers fee by knight service, annual value 10 marks. Annual value of the advowson when it falls 100s.
He held a messuage called ‘Presthous’ in the vill of Littleport, within the Isle of Ely, in his demesne as of fee tail of the bishop of Ely, services unknown, annual value 13s. 4d.

He died on 24 May last. Henry his son is his next heir, aged 3 years and more. n769_001
