As specified in the writ, the previous inquisition held by William Stapilton found that he held of ‪Henry IV in chief and at his death was seised in his demesne as of fee of
the hamlet of Westlinton, held of the king by service of paying the king 13s. 4d. cornage yearly at the exchequer of Carlisle castle at the Assumption, and of various other lands and tenements.

John de Leuynton was his son and heir, aged 4 years and more on the day of his father’s death. John the son died on 12 June 1419, a minor in ‪Henry V‬’s wardship.
