by grant of John Ingelby and William Asthorp to himself and Elizabeth his late wife for their lives, successive remainders in whole to Matthew their son and the male heirs of his body; Richard brother of Matthew and the male heirs of his body; the male heirs of the bodies of Richard and Elizabeth; Brian Stapulton and the heirs of his body; and the right heirs of Elizabeth, as is apparent more fully in a fine [levied in king’s court], royal licence obtained and shown to the jurors. Richard survived Elizabeth and died seised in this estate of the moiety,
held of the king in chief by 1/4 knight’s fee. There are, as parcels of the 1/2 manor, 180 a. demesne arable, each acre worth 5d. yearly; 25 a. meadow, each acre worth 10d. yearly; a park stocked with beasts of the chase, containing 60 a. of which 20 a. are from the wood from which Walter Bede has 2d. daily from the park’s pasturage for the keeping of the park, and thus the park is worth nothing yearly after enclosure and keeping; 1,000 a. waste moor and wood [?from the] common pasture called ‘Herwodmore’, worth nothing yearly; 2 burgages in Harewood, each worth 12d. yearly; 6 cottages, each worth 12d. yearly; a forge there, worth 12d. yearly; moiety of a common oven there, worth 12d. yearly; a messuage and 4 1/2 carucates in East Carlton, worth 12s. yearly; 8 messuages in Dunkeswick, worth nothing yearly; 17 bovates in the same vill [of Dunkeswick], each worth 4s. yearly; 2 cottages with gardens in the same vill, each worth 12d. yearly; 2 messuages with gardens in Healthwaite, each worth 12d. yearly; 4 bovates of land and pasture in the same vill of Healthwaite, each worth 4s. yearly; a cottage with garden in Healthwaite, worth 6d. yearly; 52s. rents of service by the hands of manorial tenants; and 4 boon-works with ploughing every year, one from Nicholas Frank and three from William Slyngisby , manorial tenants.

He died on 22 May last. Richard Redman son of Matthew Redman, knight , is his kinsman and next heir as son of Matthew his son, and was aged 9 years and more on 11 November last.
