Holdings

She died seised of the following in her demesne as of fee.

Great Salkeld, a moiety of a messuage and of 60 a. land and meadow, held of the king in chief by knight service and paying 3s. 4d. at the king’s Exchequer at Carlisle at Easter and Michaelmas in equal portions, annual value 6s. 8d. William More occupied the moiety and took all issues continuously for two years after her death and since then it has lain waste and untenanted.
Glasson and the vill of Bowness-on-Solway, 3 messuages, 80 a. land and meadow, held of Richard de Haryngton of his manor of Drumburgh by service of paying 1d. cash to Richard at Michaelmas, annual value 13s. 4d. They were worth nothing for a year after her death because wasted and destroyed by... of the king. The same William More occupied for 2 1/2 years after this, continually taking the issues. John Skelton, chevalier , took the issues for a whole year afterwards, title unknown, annual value 13s. 4d.
Hawksdale in the vill of Dalston, a moiety of 3 cottages, held of the bishop of Carlisle in right of his church of Carlisle by service of paying 8d. to the bishop at Easter, annual value 18d. The same William More occupied, taking the issues continuously, annual value 20d.
The holdings in these vills descended to Joan through the death of Isabel her mother. Cecily wife of the same William More , as the sister of Isabel mother of Joan, is the kinswoman and next heir of Joan because she died without heir of her body, and thus heir to these holdings, and is aged 40 years and more. She died seised of the following in her demesne as of fee.
Aikton, a messuage and 60 a. land and meadow, namely 50 a. land and 10 a. meadow, called Drumleaning, held of Thomas Lord Dacre, chevalier , of his manor of Aikton by service of paying 3d. to Thomas at Michaelmas and performing suit to his manor court twice yearly. Annual value 7s. 4d. namely the messuage worth 18d. yearly, each acre of land 1d. yearly and each acre of meadow 2d. yearly. Robert Heghmore occupied these for 1 1/2 years after her death, taking all issues. Henry de Dalston then occupied them for 2 1/2 years, title unknown. Afterwards they lay wasted and untenanted.
Aikton, a messuage, 8 a. land and 4 a. meadow, held of the same Thomas Lord Dacre, of his same manor by service of paying him 6d. yearly, annual value nil because unoccupied.
Parton, 2 tenements, 8 a. land and 4 a. meadow, held of Robert Karlele and William Denton of their manor of Parton by service of paying them 8s. ?8d.... at Easter and Michaelmas in equal portions. Annual value 2s. 2d. namely each tenement worth 5d. yearly, each acre of land 1d. yearly and each acre of meadow 2d. yearly. The same Robert Heghmore occupied these, taking the issues, for 1 1/2 years after her death and afterwards they lay waste and unoccupied.
Aikton, 4 a. land and 2 a. meadow near ‘le Brynteschapell’, held of the same Thomas Lord Dacre of his same manor, service unknown, annual value nil for want of tenants.
The holdings in the vills of Aikton and Parton descended to Joan through the death of John de Dalston , her father.

John de Rybton , as the son of Margaret sister of John de Dalston , is the kinsman and next heir of Joan because she died without heir of her body, and thus heir to these holdings, and is aged 30 years and more. She died on 31 August 1420.
