Regarding lands held by James Northampton of ‪Henry IV. William son of John Comberton died a minor in ‪Henry V‬ ’s wardship as James’s kinsman and heir.

A messuage and a quarter-virgate (quartrona) of land in Wellingborough came into the hands of ‪Henry IV owing to the death of James Northampton and the minority of William son of John Comberton , and are in those of ‪Henry VI. They are held of the abbot of Crowland and of Robert Mawdeby , service unknown, annual value 6s. 8d.

He died on 3 December 1421. Richard Comberton , his brother, is his next heir, aged 21 years and more.

Anne widow of James holds 20 a. meadow and 30 a. underwood of this 1/3 in dower by assignment of ‪Henry IV [CCR 1405–9, p.459]. The 1/3 manor, except for the meadow and underwood, is still in the hands of ‪Henry VI, and is held of the king in chief by service of 1/9 knight’s fee, annual value £18,
and
the lands and tenements in Shoreditch and Hoxton are held of the dean and chapter of St Paul’s, London, service unknown, annual value £6 13s. 4d.
