To John Stourton , William Halle and Robert de Syreston , ordering inquiry by at least two of them into more lands held of ‪Henry V‬ in Somerset, Dorset, Hampshire, Wiltshire, Surrey, Sussex and Kent, than those identified in the inquisitions held after his death and returned to ‪Henry V‬’s Chancery [CPR 1422–9, p.92; see CIPM XXI, nos 691, 811–23].

Holdings

He held more lands and tenements in his demesne as of fee than were specified in the earlier inquisition [CIPM XXI, no. 817], namely the manor of Bignor with its members Racton, Rogate, Medhone and Madehurst, with the park of Medhone belonging to the manor. The manor is held of the king in chief by fealty only. In the manor and its members there are the site, worth nothing yearly; from the demesne lands, 300 a. land, each acre worth 3d. yearly, 40 a. meadow, each acre worth 8d. yearly, and 300 a. pasture, worth 13s. 4d. yearly; agistment of the park, worth nothing yearly after the maintenance of the beasts of the chase; a water-mill, worth 20s. yearly; and £26 assize rents at Easter and Michaelmas in equal portions.

He died on 21 April 1421. John Arundell is his son and heir to these additional lands and tenements, and is aged 16 years.

Beatrice widow of Thomas, late earl of Arundel , has taken the issues from his death until the day of this inquisition, title unknown.

from the time of his death, and the value of the manor with its members, repeat the details of the extent in 347.

The manor was occupied and its issues taken by Beatrice widow of Thomas, late earl of Arundel , from his death, on 21 April 1421, until 18 February 1424, and then by John Cornewaill, knight , William Ryman, esquire , John Bournell and William Cawe until the day of this inquisition and still.
