Holdings

He held no lands or tenements of the king or of any other in demesne or by service.

He was seised in his demesne as of fee of the manor of Wymering. Described as Richard le Wayte of Denmead, esquire , and by his indented charter, shown to the jurors and dated at Denmead, 6 October 1422, he granted the manor, described as his manor of Wymering with all demesne lands, woods, meadows, pastures, common fisheries, rents, reversion, services, warrens and all its other liberties and easements, to Robert Barbot of Great Ervills, William le Wayte , his son, and Margaret, William’s wife and Robert’s daughter, and the heirs of William and Margaret, rendering to the chief lords of the fee the due and accustomed rents and services, and to Richard and his assigns during his life £20 of good English coin at Christmas, Easter, Midsummer and Michaelmas in equal portions, as is contained more fully in the charter. William and Margaret were seised in their demesne as of fee tail and Robert in his demesne as of his free tenement. The manor is held of the king in chief by service of 1d. to his Exchequer through the sheriff’s hands at Michaelmas, annual value £10.
By letters patent dated 15 December 1423, and for 12 marks paid to him in his Hanaper, the king pardoned the offence in this manner, as is contained more fully in the letters patent [CPR 1422–9, p.168]. Robert, William and Margaret continued in possession from 6 October until the day of the inquisition and continue so.

He died on 20 April 1423. William is his son and next heir, aged 14 years and more.
