The jurors know that that Maud was born at Besford and baptised in St James's church there on 6 October 1407, and that she is 15 years and more. They recollect for the following reasons. John Dalamare , aged 50, was present in the church that day and saw her lifted from the font. John Donne , 54, that day rode to Ragley for Henry Rowse to be her godfather. John Eslyngton , 57, that day rode to Worcester for Alice wife of William Foliet who was to be her godmother. John Holford , 46, went that day for Margaret wife of John Moraunt who was to be the other godmother. Richard Ruyhalle , 53, had a son named Richard, aged 15 years and more, baptised that day in the same church. John Hulle , 36, had a brother named William buried in the churchyard of the church that day. Nicholas Grove , 37, had a sister named Joan buried in the same church that day. Thomas Solers , 40, said that it was the day and year of the abbot of Westminster’ s court in Besford and he broke his leg there. Ralph Mannyng , 50, that day enfeoffed John Sawndrers, chaplain , with 1 a. arable in Besford. John Ruyhale , 50, that day carried the basin and ewer to Besford church for the godfather and godmothers to wash their hands. Robert Aleyn , 40, that day carried the water to fill the font in which she was baptised. William Roseley , 40, that day affianced Agnes daughter of John Grene of Besford.
