[ms torn], cantreds, courts, leets, hundreds and whatsoever other possessions in England, Wales, the Marches and elsewhere, which he had by reason of the minority of Humphrey son and heir of Edmund, late earl of Stafford , to have with knights’ fees, advowsons of churches, monasteries, abbeys, priories, prebends, chapels, hospitals and other benefices belonging to the castles, manors etc. together with all easements, issues and arrears, from the time of the earl’s death until the heir’s majority and from heir to heir until their majority, rendering nothing to the king, as is contained, among other things, more fully in the letters patent. William Greneham held in his demesne as of fee his

manor of Moreton in Maids’ Moreton by knight service of the late earl’s heir, namely of Humphrey the son and heir. Long after ‪ Henry IV ’s grant to Queen Joan , he died and by virtue of the letters patent and by reason of the minority of Thomas Greneham , William’s son and heir, the queen was seised of the custody of the manor and the wardship of the underage Thomas.
By letters patent shown to the jurors and dated at London, 10 April 1413, she granted custody of all lands and tenements which William had held of the late earl’s heir, and which came into her hands by reason of Thomas’s minority, to Nicholas bishop of Bath for the duration of Thomas’s minority, with his marriage. The bishop was possessed of the custody of the manor, amongst others, with custody of Thomas himself.
Annual value of the manor, 5 marks.

He died on 8 December 1412. Thomas Greneham is his son and next heir, aged 21 years on 4 October 1420.

The issues were successively taken by Queen Joan from his death until 10 April 1413 by virtue of ‪ Henry IV ’s letters patent, the bishop until 4 October 1420, with the effecting of Thomas’s marriage, by virtue of the queen’s grant, and Thomas until the day of this inquisition, and he still does.
