Henry, son and heir of John Poucher, knight, who held in chief of Henry V, died a minor in the king's ward.

Holdings

Because of the death of John Poucher and the minority of his son Henry the manor of Drax came into the king's hand. It is held of the king in chief for 1/4 knight's fee and 20s. rent at Whitsun and St. Martin. There are in the manor a waste site with herbage, annual value 40d., 300 a. arable worth yearly 4d. an acre, 40 a. meadow worth yearly 12d. an acre, 300 a. pasture worth yearly 4d. an acre, £20 rent from various tenants who hold according to the custom of the manor at the same terms in equal portions, a windmill, annual value 20s., and perquisites of court, annual value 40s.

He died on 6 Dec. 1420. Joan Poucher is his sister and next heir, aged 10 years and more.

Holdings

For the reasons given in 755 the manor of Purton remains in the king's hand, and is held of the abbot of Malmesbury , service unknown. There are in the manor the site with garden, annual value nil, 100 a. arable worth yearly 4d. an acre, 100 a. pasture worth yearly 2d. an acre, 12 a. meadow worth yearly 12d. an acre, 6s. 8d. assize rents at Easter and Michaelmas in equal portions, and 180 a. wood, annual value nil because none can be sold. Long before his death Henry's father John by his charter, given under a seal of arms and shown to the jurors, granted a yearly rent of 13s. 4d. from the manor at the same terms in equal portions to John Wyke for life. For the same reason the following also came into the king's hand: in Purton, all held of the abbot of Malmesbury , service unknown, a tenement called `Neleplace', annual value 6s. 8d., 40 a. arable worth yearly 4d. an acre, 6 a. meadow worth yearly 12d. an acre, and a close called `Culmede', annual value 26s. 8d.; in Chelworth, held of the king in chief for 1/8 knight's fee, 2 messuages worth 40d., 40 a. arable worth yearly 4d. an acre, 6 a. meadow worth yearly 6d. an acre, and 1/8 hundred of Chelworth, annual value 10s.; in Calcutt, held of John Cole , service unknown, a messuage, annual value 40d., 20 a. arable worth yearly 4d. an acre, and 4 a. meadow worth yearly 6d. an acre.

He died on 7 Dec. 1420. Joan Poucher is his sister and next heir, aged 12 years and more.

For the reasons given in 755 the following remain in the king's hand: the manor of West Rasen and its appurtenances in West Rasen, Middle Rasen, Usselby, Scawby, Hainton, Glentworth, East Barkwith or West Barkwith, Southery and Heckington, the advowson of the alien priory of Holy Trinity, York, and the advowsons of the chantries of St. Mary in West Rasen and of St. Nicholas in Heckington, held of the king in chief by knight service, annual value £26. The manor is charged with a yearly rent of 20 marks to William de Lodyngton , Robert Haldenby of Holdenby, William Senior of Lincoln and John Fodirby during the life of Joan widow of John Poucher, knight . The following also remain in the king's hand: the manor of `Northall' in Middle Rasen called `Nevillfee', annual value 46s. 8d.; 20s. yearly rent from lands and tenements held by John Mokkyng in Toft next Newton; 20s. yearly rent from lands and tenements held by John Alyngton in Osgodby, Owersby, Caistor and Grasby held of the abbot of Barlings , service unknown; a toft and a wood called `Sellyngwode' in Linwood held of Elizabeth, Lady Beaumont , for 1 lb. cumin, annual value 3s. 4d.; and the advowson of the church of Toft next Newton held of John Chaumberleyn, lord of Winceby , of the manor of Winceby, service unknown.

Date of death as in 755. Joan Poucher is his sister and next heir, aged 12 years on 3 May last.
