Holdings

He held no lands or tenements of the king in chief in demesne or by service but was seised in his demesne as of fee of the manor of Little Coates, annual value 100s., and other lands and tenements in Tealby, annual value 35s. Long before his death as John de Cotes, esquire , of Little Coates by his charter dated at Little Coates on 24 Jan. 1408, shown to the jurors, with clause of warranty and seal of arms, granted them to his brother James de Cotes , deceased, in tail male, reversion to his brother Robert de Cotes , who survives, in tail male, reversion to Roger Keleby of Keelby in tail male, remainder to his own right heirs. James was seised, died without heir male and was succeeded by Robert, who was seised until unjustly disseised by Thomas de Myssynden and his wife Mary. The manor is held of the king in chief of the fee of Aumale, service unknown. The lands in Tealby are held of the prior of St. John of Jerusalem for 30s. yearly.

He died on 30 Sept. last. Mary wife of Thomas Myssynden and Margaret daughter of John named in the writ are his next heirs, Mary aged 20 years and more, Margaret aged 1 year and more.
