He was seised in his demesne as of fee of the king in chief by knight service of the manor of Watford. There are in the manor 20s. rent at Easter and Michaelmas in equal portions, annual value of the manor and the rent 100s. He was also seised in his demesne as of fee of 4 messuages, 3 tofts, 200 a. arable, 30 a. meadow, 40 a. wood, 100 a. pasture and a water-mill in Shittlehanger which Thomas Gapcot holds, a messuage, 20 a. arable, 1 a. meadow and a water-mill in Stoke Bruern, 16s. rent from a mill called `Twyfordmylle' in Stoke Bruern and 2 messuages, 30 a. arable and 2 a. meadow in Alderton. Annual values: the messuages nil; each toft 4d.; each acre of arable 2d.; each acre of meadow 2s.; each acre of wood 2d.; each acre of pasture 1d.; the mill at Stoke Bruern, 10s.; and the mill at Shittlehanger nil because ruinous. Of whom and by what service the messuages etc. are held is unknown. He was also seised of the manor of Byfield called `Parlesmaner', in which there are 10s. rent at Easter and Michaelmas, a messuage and 2 virgates there which Richard Umfrey holds at will, the reversion of a virgate in Wappenham which William Abraham , his wife Margery and their son John hold in their demesne as of fee for life by lease of Ralph, annual value £3. The messuage and 2 virgates in Byfield are worth 6s. 8d. and the reversion in Wappenham 40d. when it occurs. He also held in his demesne as of fee a portion of land in Yelvertoft and the advowson of Yelvertoft. Long before his death by a charter dated 11 March 1420 and shown to the jurors he granted all his lands in Byfield, Wappenham and Yelvertoft and the advowson of Yelvertoft to Thomas Wake , George de Burneby and John Mortymer , esquires, Thomas Byllyng and John Ditton of Wootton, who are still seised, but of whom and by what service the lands are held is unknown. He was also seised of 40s. rent from a messuage called `Netherbury', 10 a. meadow and 100 a. pasture in Helmdon which William Gybons and his wife Isabel hold for life of Isabel by Ralph's demise, and of the reversion in demesne as of fee. As Ralph Parles, esquire, of Shittlehanger, he gave the 40s. rent for life to his servant Agnes Blewet for 13s. 4d. yearly by an indenture of 10 Jan. 1420 shown to the jurors. William and Isabel attorned to Agnes, who is seised of her free tenement. He was also seised in his demesne as of fee of 6 messuages, 6 virgates, 40s. rent and 2 lb. cumin in Helmdon and by a charter of 11 March 1420 shown to the jurors granted them to the feoffees mentioned above, who remain seised. Annual values: the messuages etc. 6s. 8d., the cumin 2d. They are held of Roger Louet of his manor of Helmdon called `Overbury', service unknown.
