Holdings

He was seised in his demesne as of fee tail, i.e. to him and the heirs of his body, of

the manor of Hartridge, held of the king in chief by service of keeping a hawk called a `goshaue'. There are in the manor a capital messuage, annual value nil because it is wasted and ruinous, a dovecot, annual value 12d., and a carucate, annual value 40s.
John Outylles was formerly seised in his demesne as of fee of the manor and by the king's licence shown to the jurors [1 May 1415: CPR 1413-16, p. 371] enfeoffed John Wygmore, clerk , John Lunyall, chaplain , and John Syward , who were licensed to grant it to John Outylles and John Romayn to hold to them and the heirs of John Romayn , with the following reversions: to John Coudray , his wife Margaret and the heirs of Margaret; to Peter Coudray , his wife Maud and the heirs of Maud; remainder to the right heirs of Philip Popham , father of Margaret and Maud. By virtue of the licence John Outylles granted the manor to John Wygmore etc. by his charter shown to the jurors. John Outylles is dead and John Romayn died without issue. John Coudray is also dead and the manor pertains to Margaret. He also held in his demesne as of fee tail to him and his wife Isabel, who survives, and the heirs of their bodies the manors of Titcombe and Haslewick, also held of the king in chief by service of keeping a hawk called a `goshaue'.
There are in the manor of Titcombe the site of the manor, annual value nil, a carucate, annual value 20s., 10 a. meadow, annual value 9s., and 40s. assize rents.
There are in the manor of Haslewick the site of the manor, annual value nil, a carucate, annual value 10s., 6 a. meadow, annual value 10s., 10 a. wood, annual value nil, and 10s. assize rents.
John Wygmore, vicar of Hampstead Norris , John Lanyell, chaplain , and John Grygge by the king's licence shown to the jurors [1 July 1416: CPR 1416-22, p. 35] gave the manors to John Romayn named in the writ and his wife Isabel, who survives, to hold to them and the heirs of their bodies, and the manors pertain to Isabel by virtue of the grant.

He died on 7 May last. Thomas de Wynteryshull of Surrey is his kinsman and next heir, aged 30 years and more, i.e. son of Thomas de Wynteryshull son of Thomas de Wynteryshull son of Thomas de Wynteryshull son of Gillian formerly wife of Walter de Wynteryshull sister of John Romayn father of John Romayn father of John Romayn father of Richard Romayn father of John Romayn named in the writ.
