He held in his demesne as of fee tail the manor of Magdalen Laver and the advowson of the church of the manor by a fine, shown to the jurors, levied quin. Mich. 1334 [CP 25/1/64/175, no. 322] between Andrew de Walden and his wife Joan, quer., and Roger de Glanvulle and Simon de Hormade, parson of Magdalen Laver , def., of the manor and advowson. Andrew acknowledged them to be the right of Roger as those which Roger and Simon had by Andrew's gift. For that acknowledgement Roger and Simon granted the manor and advowson to Andrew and Joan and rendered them to them and the heirs of their bodies. Andrew and Joan had issue Thomas named in the writ and Alice, formerly wife of John Bataille, esquire , and died. Thomas entered and was seised by virtue of the fine. Alice had issue Thomas Bataille and died.

He held jointly in his demesne for life as of free tenement with his wife Margaret, who survives, by feoffment of John Pensax , Thomas Thorp and Robert Aloxton , the licence of ‪ Henry IV having been obtained [13 Feb. 1404: CPR 1401-5, p. 354], the manor of Ongar Park, remainder to Thomas Bataille and his wife Eleanor, daughter of Thomas Oudeby , and the heirs of their bodies as appears by the letters patent and the charter of John Pensax , Thomas Thorp and Robert Aloxton shown to the jurors.
