John Pomeray, knight , deceased, was seised in his demesne as of fee of

and which, as John de la Pomeray son and heir of Henry de la Pomeray , he granted to William de Horbury, parson of Ipplepen , Richard Holrygge, vicar of Brixham , John Papulwyke, parson of Loxhore , Reynold, vicar of Berry Pomeroy , John Hill , John Wadham , Thomas de la Pomeray , William Caunton and Richard Ayssh . William Caunton died and the remaining feoffees granted the manor to John Pomeray , his wife Joan named in the writ, and the heirs of their bodies, remainder to the right heirs of John. The charter was shown to the jurors. Joan survived John and was seised, holding in chief until 16 May last, when, by her charter of that date, also shown to the jurors, she surrendered her estate in it to Thomas de Pomeray , his wife Joan and John Cole , right heirs of John Pomeray , i.e. Joan daughter of Joan, one of the sisters and heirs of John Pomeray , and John Cole son of Margaret, another of the sisters and heirs of John Pomeray , the king's licence having been obtained [20 Nov. 1420: CPR 1416-22, p. 318].
