He held for life the manor of Woolston with appurtenances except wardships, marriages, fees, advowsons, reliefs and escheats by grant of Thomas, earl of Arundel , with reversion to Elizabeth, duchess of Norfolk , Joan Beauchamp, Lady Abergavenny , and Margaret wife of Roland Lenthale, knight , sisters and heirs of the earl.

Woolston. The manor is held of the king in chief by knight service, but by what portion of a fee is unknown, annual value £10.

He died on 30 Oct. last, heir unknown.

To the escheator of Essex, pursuant to 430 above. The homage and fealty of Joan Beauchamp, lady Abergavenny , one of the sisters and right heirs of Thomas late earl of Arundell , and the fealty of Roland Lenthale, knight , husband of Margaret, another sister and heir, have been taken for Joan’s and Margaret’s purparties and the homage of Elizabeth, duchess of Norfolk , the other sister and heir, for her purparty has been respited until All Saints next for 1 … [ms torn and worn] paid in the hanaper. Order to take security from the duchess, Joan, Roland and Margaret for payment of a relief and to make a partition between them and to deliver seisin to each. [CFR 1413-22, pp. 389-90.]
