He held in tail general the manor of Heaton by virtue of a grant from Roger de Stanyngton and William de Bedlyngton , chaplains, to John de Musgrave , grandfather of John named in the writ, and Margery, daughter of Robert de Rihyll , deceased, and the heirs of their bodies, the licence of ‪ Edward II having been obtained [not found]. John named in the writ is the kinsman and heir of John and Margery, i.e. son of John Musgrave son of John Musgrave the grandfather and his wife Margery. The manor is held of the king in chief for 1/8 knight's fee, annual value 100s. He held in tail general the manor of Ryal by grant of Ralph de Stanyngton and John de Boldon , chaplains, to John de Musgrave , grandfather of John named in the writ, and Margery as above. The manor is held of Ralph, earl of Westmorland , of his lordship of Bywell by service of 1 knight's fee, annual value £16.

He died on 7 Dec. last. Robert de Musgrave is his son and next heir, aged 31 years and more.
