Holdings
He held no land of the king in chief or by service. Long before his death he was seised of a messuage, a dovecot, a mill, a carucate and 40 a. wood in Merthen in his demesne as of fee and in 2/3 manors of Illogan, Trethin, Trevarthean and Trethevas with the reversion of the remaining 1/3s which Joan widow of Robert Hulle senior , formerly wife of John Trevarthian, knight , holds in dower. Before his death Otes granted the manors and the lands in Merthen to Thomas, duke of Exeter , Edward Courtenay, knight , deceased, Robert Hulle, king's justice , Thomas Trevaignon , deceased, Otes Tregonan , John Mertherderwa , Henry Wynnogend, clerk , Thomas Pellour , John Chywarton , Robert Bony , that Robert's son John and Peter Pedit for lives. He granted the manor of Trethevas to the same feoffees for his life, remainder to them for the life of Joan. Otes died and the reversion descended to his son and heir John Trevarthian , aged 8 years, who died on 14 July 1420. On John's death the reversion descended to Ralph Reskymmer , as kinsman and heir, i.e. son of the sister of Otes Trevarthian , father of John named in the writ. Ralph son of Ralph is under age and after his father's death was in the guardianship of Robert Hulle senior . Long before the death of Otes, Ralph Reskymmer the father held a messuage and 12 a. Cornish in `Trevek' and a ferling in Penhallick of Robert Hulle by knight service in right of his wife Joan of the manor of Brugan. Ralph the father died long before Otes on 25 Feb. 1419. The 2/3 manor of Illogan and the reversion of 1/3 are held of John Basset in socage, annual value 40s. The 2/3 manor of Trethin and the reversion of 1/3 are held of John Trevaignon by knight service, annual value 100s. The dovecot, carucate and 40 a. wood in Merthen are held of the king of his castle of Launceston of his duchy of Cornwall by knight service, annual value 100s. The 2/3 demesne land of the manor of Trevarthean with the reversion of 1/3 are held of the prior of Mount St. Michael in socage, and the remainder of the manor and that of 1/3 are held of Elizabeth, Lady Haryngton , by knight service, annual value £20. The 2/3 manor of `Treshevec' and the reversion of 1/3 are held of the lord of Tregony of his manor of Tregony in socage, annual value 10 marks.
He died on 15 Jan. last. Ralph Reskymmier son of Ralph is his kinsman and next heir, i.e. son of Idony [Udonia] sister of Otes, aged 9 years and more.
