Rickling, the manor, and a toft and 180 a. in Ugley called Brent Hall, portions of the manor, annual value 50 marks. The manor is held of John Heron, knight , of his manor of Sawbridgeworth, as 1 knight's fee,
as appears by the charter, shown to the jurors, of Geoffrey son of William de Say , by which he gave it to his son Geoffrey de Say , which he had of Alice de Ver , late lord of the manor of Sawbridgeworth, to hold of of her and her heirs as 1 knight's fee, which interest John Heron now has in the manor of Sawbridgeworth. Brent Hall is held of Anne, widow of Thomas de Morle , of her manor of Great Hallingbury as 1/2 knight's fee;
Elsenham, the manor, of John Heron of the same manor by a rent of an unmewed sparrow-hawk or 2s. payable at the Assumption; and a toft and 200 a. called New Hall, now portions of the manor, of Joan de Bohun, late countess of Hereford , as 1/2 knight's fee, annual value 46 marks;
Matching, 2/3 of the manor, with the reversion of the 1/3 which Elizabeth Walden , mother of John, holds in dower, of the heir of the earl of Oxford , a minor in the king's ward as 1/2 fee, annual value 13 marks;
Fobbing, a marsh called Naze Wick marsh, of the heir of the same earl by a rent of 60s., annual value 6 marks;
Clavering, a toft and 180 a. called `Pontyns'; 100 a. arable, meadow and wood called Thurrocks; and a toft and 80 a. called `Clerkes'; Berden, 20 a., of the abbot of Walden , service unknown, Meesden, 6 a., and Brent Pelham, 14 a., of Joan Grey by a rent of 18d., and Elmdon, a toft and 80 a. meadow and wood called `Coffhys', of the prior of St. Bartholomew's, London , of the manor of Langley by 5s. rent.

He died on Wednesday [sic] 13 July last. Katharine wife of John Barde junior , aged 19 years and Margaret aged 18 years are his sisters and heirs.
