He held a messuage in East Greenwich in his demesne as of fee. From 17 Oct. last 1/3 with the profits was granted to Joan widow of Roger Swyllyngton in dower purusuant to a royal writ [153]. The whole messuage is held of the prior of West Sheen , service unknown, annual value of 2/3 8s. 11d.

He died on 2 April last. Margaret wife of John Gray, knight , is his sister and next heir of blood, aged 28 years and more. Robert Swyllington, esquire , is son and next heir of Roger and was aged 21 on 11 June last.

Roger married Joan daughter of Robert Nevill of Hornby, knight , and had issue John and Margaret wife of John Gra . Roger afterwards married Joan daughter of Stephen Scrop, esquire , and had issue Robert, esquire . The escheator allotted 1/3 to Joan daughter of Stephen Scrop in dower.

Recites findings of 57. Joan his wife has claimed the manor of Wigston Magna (Wykyngeston), in the king’s hand since his death, in Chancery, showing a charter by which William de Leke, Thomas de Thornour and Simon Payn granted the manor of Wyggeston to John de Swyllyngton, son and heir of Roger de Swyllyngton, knight, and Joan his wife and the heirs of their bodies [remainder to Roger Swyllyngton not mentioned], and asserting that the John de Swyllyngton and Joan his wife and manor of Wyggeston named in the charter are one and same as the John, Joan and manor named in 57, and that it was William de Leke, Thomas de Thornour and Simon Payn who granted the manor to them.
