Holdings

William Peyto senior formerly held the manor of Chesterton in his demesne as of fee and ‪ Henry IV licensed him by letters patent of 13 Oct. 1406 [CPR 1405-8, p. 241] to grant it with other manors to Thomas Seyvyll, esquire , John Asshford, esquire , William de la Pole , Roger Elmbrygge and John Barbour of Bishop's Itchington, and for them to regrant it to him and Joan for their lives with remainder to William Peyto junior , his brother John and his right heirs. William Peyto granted it to them by his charter shown to the jurors and dated 2 Feb. 1407. Immediately afterwards he died.

Then on 24 June 1407 by their charter dated at Chesterton and also shown to the jurors Thomas Seyvill and the others gave the manor to Joan to hold of the king for life with successive remainders to William Peyto junior and the heirs of his body, his brother John and his heirs and the right heirs of William senior, annual value £7 7s. ?6d.

Joan died on 30 Sept. William Peyto junior is aged 22 years and more.
