He held the manor of Great Wymondley of the king in chief by the serjeanty of serving the king with the first silver cup on his coronation day, annual value 100s.
Similarly he held the manor of Little Wymondley of the king in chief of the honor of Aumale by a rent of 6s. 8d. for the ward of Craven [sc. Skipton] castle, annual value £12;
and also in his demesne as of fee the manor of Weston, of whom is unknown, annual value 60s.

He died on 22 Jan. last. John Argentein is his kinsman and next heir, being the son of John his son, aged 6 years and more.

He held in his demesne as of fee 40s. rent from the manor of Ashendon, which Richard Wyot holds in Ashendon, parcel of the manor of Little Wymondley in Hertfordshire, of whom and by what service is unknown [cf. 946].

He died on 15 Feb. last. John son of his son John is his next heir and is aged 5 years and more.

He held the manor and advowson of Halesworth jointly with his wife Margery, who survives, to them and the heirs of his body by the grant of John Carbonell and John Hevenyngham , knights, Thomas Cravene, esquire , John Norwich of Yoxford and John Tolle of South Elmham.

The manor is held of the king of the honor of Chester as one knight's fee, annual value 20 marks.
By the same grant he held 100 a. arable, 9 a. wood and 3 a. meadow and pasture in Wissett, Rumburgh, Spexhall and Holton, of William Fereby, clerk , John Panell and William Clerk of Great or Little Bealings of their manor of Wissett by a rent of 40s., annual value beyond that 20s.
For the life of Margery, daughter of William Calthorp, knight , who was the wife of John Argentein , son of William Argentein, knight , jointly with John Carbonell and John Heveningham , knights, Thomas Cravene , William Argentein, esquire , son of William Argentein, knight , John Norwich and John Tolle , who are still alive, he held the manor of Gisleham by the grant of Margery daughter of William Calthorp, knight , Simon Felbrigge and John Ingelisthorp, knight , John Calthorp , Robert Mawteby , Edward Halys of Great Walsingham, William Lovell and William Walpool, esquire , to William Argentein, knight , John Carbonell , John Heveningham , Thomas Cravene , William son of William Argentein , John Norwich , and John Tolle , of the manor of Gisleham and the manor of Chalgrove in Oxfordshire, to hold to them and their assigns for the life of Margery paying £20 in the church of Halesworth by equal parts at the four terms.
Gisleham is held of Thomas Hemgrave, knight , and his wife Joan of the manor of Mutford by a rent of 16s., annual value with Chalgrove nil.

Holdings

By his charter dated 8 April 1417, shown to the jurors, he granted the manor of Melbourn to John Grey, knight son of Reynold Grey, lord of Ruthin , John Carbonell , John Havenyngham, senior , knights, John Hotot of Knebworth, John Norwych of Yoxford, Nicholas Howys of Balsham and John Tolle of South Elmham, to hold to them and their heirs and assigns. Afterwards on 16 Jan. 1419 Nicholas Howys by the name of Nicholas Howyssh of Balsham released all his rights to the others by his deed, shown to the jurors. They have held in peace since that date. William Argentein had no rights in the manor.

Melbourn is held of John, bishop of Ely, in right of his church of St. Etheldreda, service unknown, annual value £10.

[With the Exchequer copy is a writ of amoveas manum dated 7 July 1419, removing the king's hand from the manor of Melbourne, it having been found by this inquisition that it was vested in trustees.]
