SOMERSET. Proof of age. Fri. after St. … [Hulle].
Jurors: Thomas Northlode , Henry Noreys , John Bonde , Philip Wattys , Walter Joys , John Steward , Edward Pre... , John Howys , William H..wey , Peter Ne… , Thomas Alewold , John Widdone who say that Richard was born at Cameley and baptised in the church there, and is now aged 22 years and more.
Thomas Northlode , Henry Noreys , John Bonde and Philip Wattys , each aged 60 and more, were present at the baptism and each held a candle, ... carried ?so much wine to the church by order of John Durcote that they were suffered infirmities for a year.
Walter Joys , John Steward , Edward Pre... and John Howys , each aged 52 and more, were by the font during the baptism and saw John Durcote , the father, ask the parson to write the day and year of the birth in a missal, whence they know the date.
William H..wey , aged 45 and more, and Peter Ne… , aged 46 and more, similarly carried wine to the church by order of John Durcote and were present at the baptism, and in two psalters which they still possess wrote the day and year of Richard’s birth.
Thomas Alewold and John Widdone (?), the last two jurors, aged 55 years and more, say that they made an agreement that day about various disputes, and quarrels between them, releasing all actions, and were present at the baptism and know the date by their deed.
