Inquisition Head

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE Proof of age 4 Nov. [Rygmayden].

The jurors say that he was born at Kirkby in Ashfield and baptised in the church there on 25 July 1392 and is now aged 21 years and more.

John Wodehous of Annesley, aged 50 years and more, remembers the date because he was at Nottingham for a gaol delivery before William Thirnyng and his fellow justices on 26 July of that year when William Brynnesley , brother of John, told him that on the 25th John had a son called William, who if he lived would possess John's inheritance.

Robert Matheuson of Hardwick , aged 52 years and more, at that time bought from Robert de ?Capton all his tenements in Hardwick, and John Clerk of Newthorpe, who made the charter of feoffment, told him of the birth and he remembers by the date of the charter.

Robert Faukenberd of Hucknall, aged 60 years and more, rode to Nottingham in the company of William prior of Newstead, that day (the 25th), and met a servant of John Brynnesley, who said ‘my master has born a son called William who will possess my master’s inheritance’.

, Robert Rysshall of Selston , aged 60 years and more, says his wife Agnes de Rysshall gave birth to ?a daughter called Isabel.

The other jurors were John Arnall of Selston, John Worthyngton of Watnall, John Rapiter of Trowell, John Chamberlain and Richard Clerk of Hucknall, John Wodehous of Papplewick, William Grene of Linby and Thomas Isedeson of Kirkby in Ashfield, [but all their statements are illegible ].
