It is held of the king in chief, service unknown, and it reverts to the king on the death of Isabel.

He held in his demesne as of fee £47 13s.4d. from the farm of 120 marks of the profits of the castle of Rockingham and of the stewardship of the forest and hundred between the bridges of Oxford and Stamford, payable by the keeper or receiver of the forest, during the life of the countess Isabel, by the grant of Richard II , as above [no. 445].

He also held in his demesne as of fee of the king in chief by knight service a rent of 16s.8d. from a tenement called ‘Craycelond’ and land called ‘Powereslond’ in Mawsley; and the advowsons of Grafton, annual value 20 marks, and of Bugbrooke, annual value £20.

By the grant of Richard II he held to himself and his heirs £123 7s.9 3/4d. yearly from the hanaper of chancery during the life of the countess Isabel, or until he received the reversion of the manors of Haughley and Thorndon [CPR 1385–9, pp.18,24].

Edmund de Stafford, bishop of Exeter , Ralph de Neville, earl of Westmorland , Thomas Erpyngham, knight , Edmund de la Pole, knight , John de la Pole , Robert Bolton , and Henry Merston , clerk s, John Staverton , John Glemham , Thomas Frampton, clerk , John Wode , Robert Bolton, junior , and John Morley, chaplain , held the manor of Westwoodside in their demesne as of fee and by charter dated 8 Nov. 1411 granted it to Katharine, then wife of Michael, for her life, with reversion to themselves. Accordingly he held it in her right, of Lord Mowbray, service unknown, annual value £12.

He held in his demesne in fee tail 20s. rent from lands and tenements which John de Wyllesford , the heir of Lord Beaumont , John Thomson , Richard Braceby and others separately held in Welbourn, Ingoldsby, Ancaster and Marston.

Similarly he held 2 fees and 3 parts of a fee in Barrowby, Allington, Ancaster, Wilsford, Ingoldsby and elsewhere, of which the heir of John Buson, knight , holds 1 fee in Barrowby, the abbot of Newbo 1 fee in Allington, the prior of Haverholme 2 parts of a fee in Ancaster, Wilsford, Ingoldsby and elsewhere, and the heir of Simon Leek a quarter fee in Sedgebrook.

By the grant of Richard II to his father [CPR 1385–9, p.24] he held in tail male of the king in chief by knight service, the parish, castle, vill and manor of Eye, with the profits of the court every 3 weeks and the profits of various great courts once yearly, amounting to 20s. and the advowsons, rents and fees of £13 15s. yearly.

Jointly with Katharine his wife who survives him he held a rent of £50 from the fee farm of Kingston upon Hull by the grant of Richard II .

He held 10 bovates in Myton in his demesne as of fee.

Edmund de Stafford, bishop of Exeter , and others as above [no. 448], held the manor of Rimswell and 7 bovates in Myton called ‘Mytonfee’, 14 bovates, 40 a. meadow and 30s. rent in Rimswell, Bewholme, Drypool, Newland, Anlaby, Owstmarsk and Cottingham, and by charter dated 20 Nov. 1411 granted them to Katharine for the term of her life with reversion to themselves. Therefore he held in her right.

He held 1 knight’s fee in Acaster Malbis near York and in Acomb in Cleveland to himself and his heirs male as part of the honor of Eye which Richard II granted to his father, as above [no. 448]. Half was held of him by the heirs of Richard Malbussh and the other half by the heirs of Richard Bekwyth . The manor of Rimswell with lands and tenements is held of the duke of Clarence, lord of Holderness , annual value of the manor £10; the tenements in Drypool of the heirs of Thomas Sutton, knight , service unknown; the lands and tenements in Myton of Lord Mowbray in socage, annual value 18 marks; Newland and Cottingham of Edmund earl of Kent by a rent of 5s., annual value 10 marks.

Michael his father founded a priory or Charterhouse and a hospital called ‘Meisondieux’ at Myton by licence of Edward III [CPR 1374–7, p.470], reserving the advowsons to himself and his heirs. The site of the priory and hospital is held of Lord Mowbray in socage. Of whom the advowsons are held is unknown, annual values, the fee 3s., advowson of the priory 20 marks, of the hospital 40s.

He held the manors and advowsons of Cawston and Burgh in the Marsh, a yearly rent of £20 from the manor of Bacton and the advowson of the priory of Broomholm, all of the king in chief in his demesne in fee tail as parcels of the honor of Eye, granted by Richard II , as above [no. 448], annual values, Cawston manor £40, advowson 40 marks, Burgh Manor £26, advowson 10 marks, advowson of Broomholm priory £120.

Also to himself and his heirs male he held: a rent of £10 formerly belonging to the abbey of Bon Repos; another rent of £10 from the manor of Costessey, payable by equal parts at Easter and Michaelmas, and another rent of 28s.5d. from the same manor after the death of the Countess Isabel, who is still living [this second rent does not appear in the Exchequer copy], by the grant of Richard II [CPR 1381–5, p.450]; all payable by equal parts at Easter and Michaelmas; and also the reversion of the manor.
