Holdings

He held the manors of Senders and Netherhall in Barningham in his demesne in fee tail by a fine of 1329 [CP 25(1)/219/69, no.13].

Senclers manor comprises the site, 1 1/2 a. by metes and bounds, annual value 6d.; 1 enclosed croft annexed of 3 a., 18d.; 1/2 a. in 3 a. belonging to the manor of ‘Felioures’ in fee simple not included in the entailed lands, 2d.; 1 enclosed meadow of 5 a. called ‘Knytesmedowe’ with external pasture, 10s.; 113 a. arable in various fields both in demesne and in escheated villein lands at 4d. the a., of which 7 a. are above ‘Knythtesmedowe’, 7 a. in 3 parcels to the east at ‘Alstonsyk’, 9 a. 3 roods at ‘Shirlwaterwong’, 3 a. at ‘les Fyrses’, 11 a. at ‘Netherbradewong’, 7 a. at ‘Myddelbradewong’, 5 a. at ‘Overbradewong’, 2 a. at ‘Wolphamesbush’, 30 a. at ‘Nethermere’, 3 a. at ‘Rolftoft’, 20 a. of villein land formerly of Christine Skynnere and ‘Wardys’ and in various parcels 15 a. 1 rood as appears by the extent; assize rents of free tenants by the rental, 21s.4d.; 1 free fold without number ( sine numero ) with pasture of heath, 10s.; various liberties, ‘Taury’ and ‘Verry’, 8d.; and 1 court of the free tenants nil. The manor is held of the abbot of Bury St. Edmunds in socage, service unknown.

Netherhall manor comprises the site with various buildings, annual value nil; a new close of 5 a. taken from ‘Hallecroftys’ to the west of the manor, the herbage and fruit of the garden, 2s.; 1 toft of garden to the south of the manor but not belonging to it, held in fee simple by ancient charters; 1 enclosed meadow called ‘Endemere medowe’ with pasture outside the meadow with external ditch to the south, by estimate 4 a., 8s.; 1 meadow called ‘Holmedowe’ by ‘Hoggesmedowe’ with willows growing on it, by estimate 2 a., 4s.; another parcel of meadow and pasture outside ‘Hoggesmedwe’ to the east, by estimate 1 1/2 a., 12d.; another parcel of pasture by ‘Kenemanesmedwe’ to the east, by estimate 1 a., 4d.; 57 strips of pasture and meadow in ‘le Holmedwe’ between ‘Tolierswaye’ and ‘Connestone’ park, 14 feet wide, 18d.; 36 strips of meadow, pasture and marsh by ‘Connestone’ park to the east, 16 1/2 feet wide, 2s.; 140 a. of arable in various fields, both demesne and escheated villein tenure, of which 8 1/2 a. are in ‘Halle Croftys’ to the east of the manor, 21 a. on ‘Pondwong’ before the gate of the manor to the north, 7 a. in ‘Skonscroft’ at the north end of the piece abutting on ‘Halstanesyk’, 11 a. at ‘le Sevenacres’, 7 a. at ‘Stanygateweye’ abutting on ‘le Hallegrove’, 5 a. at the wood called ‘Brennepark’, 6 a. at ‘Shortbrek’, 5 a. in 4 parcels between the close of the abbot of Langley and the sheepfold of ‘Felioures’ abutting on heath to the north, 18 a. at ‘Langelond’ abutting on ‘Wranglondweye’, 6 a. in ‘Cherche croft’, a parcel of 1 1/2 a. between the close of Robert Rolf to the east and ‘Felioures’ land to the west with the south head abutting on the rectory of Barningham, being ancient glebe of Barningham church, also in ‘Cherche croft’ 2 1/2 a. and 4 1/2 a. in various parcels of villein tenants formerly ‘Mayas’, ‘Basyllis’, ‘Howes’, ‘Baldwenes’, ‘Wodewardes’ and ‘Balles’, all at 4d. the a.; assize rents of free tenants with suit by the rolls, 26s.4d.; 1 free fold without number ( sine numero ) with heath pasture, 10s.; liberties of ‘Taury’ and ‘Verry’ and perquisites of court, 12d.; and tenants of lands and tenements formerly of John Brayon of Echington by Buntingford in Hertfordshire , once of Hugh de Henyngton , which the heir of William Hyde holds with his manor of Throcking by a third part of a knight’s fee of Netherhall manor. The manor is held of the countess of Kent of her manor of Kersey as a quarter of a knight’s fee.

He also held 12 a. in ‘Wyntecroft’ in his demesne in fee tail of William Galion , Thomas Ixworth and their colleagues, his feoffees, by a rent of 12d. at Michaelmas and they hold of Robert Inginour of Weston by 1 grain of pepper at Christmas as appears by ancient charters, annual value 4s.; and in fee tail 1 a. at ‘Le Mellemont’ of the honour of Eye by 4d. at St. Stephen’s day, annual value 2s.8d., and 1 cottage called ‘Smethes’ with curtilage of William Baldry by a rent of 2d. at Michaelmas.

He held no more because long before his death he gave all his lands and tenements by charter to William Galion and his colleagues.

He died on 5 June last . Margaret wife of Thomas Ixworth , Elizabeth wife of William atte Gate and Agnes wife of John Pyk are his daughters and next heirs, all of full age.
