Holdings

In Eastbury he held 1 toft, 2 virgates, 1/2 a. meadow, 2 a. wood and 7s. rent in his demesne as of fee of the king in chief by the service of an eighth part of a knight’s fee, annual value 10s.

Long before his death he gave the manor of Eastbury, except the above, and all his other lands in the county to Reynold Kentwode , John Wright , John Hankokes and their heirs by his charter, dated at Eastbury on 16 June 1405 and shown to the jurors. They were seised long before his death and still hold them.

He died on 14 Aug. last . Ralph Arches is his kinsman and next heir, being the son of John, son of Edith his sister, aged 28 years and more.

He held 1 messuage, 2 virgates, 1/2 a. meadow, 2 a. wood and 7s. rent in Eastbury of the king in chief as a twentieth part of a knight’s fee, annual value 10s.; and 1 messuage, 1 toft, 1 dovecot, 3 carucates, 4 a. meadow, 8 a. wood and £4 rent there of William Hoo by a rent of 1d., annual value 100s.

He died on 14 Aug. Ralph Arches , his heir, is aged 28 years and more.

He held in his demesne as of fee to himself and his heirs 1 toft etc. in Eastbury by the service of an eighth part of a knight’s fee, as above [no.34]; and 1 messuage etc. as above [no.35].

He died on 14 Aug. 1406 . Ralph son of John Arches , son of Edith his sister, is next heir, aged 28 years and more.

Ralph has taken the issues of the first parcel by the grant of Peter Besyles, late escheator , since the death of John Estbury , and Thomas Estbury has taken the rest, held of William Hoo , title unknown.

Holdings

He held 3 parts of the manor of Watford, as half a knight’s fee, and 1 1/2 messuages and 1 1/4 virgates there, of the king in chief by the law or courtesy of England after the death of Agnes his wife, of her inheritance, with remainder to George son of Nicholas de Burneby , father of Eustace de Burneby , father of Agnes, as uncle and heir of Agnes.

George de Burneby is aged 40 years and more.

The annual values are: 3 parts of manor beyond the payment of £20 at the exchequer by equal parts at Michaelmas and Easter, 40 marks;
the 1 1/2 messuages and 1 1/4 virgates, 25s.8d. These latter are held of the manor, service unknown.

He died on 14 Aug. Ralph Arches is his next heir, being the son of John and Joan [sic] his wife, sister of John Estbury , aged 24 years and more.
