Henry atte Waye , an idiot from birth, held in his demesne as of fee 1 messuage, 1 ferling and 40 a. of moorland heath in Waytown in the tithing of Gorhuish in the parish of Inwardleigh, annual value 2s.; and 1 messuage and 1/2 ferling in Stockbeare in the tithing of Jacobstowe, annual value 12d.
John Aston, formerly escheator , took them into the king’s hands and so they remain. The premises in Waytown are held of Thomas Crydye of his manor of Gorhuish by knight service, and those in Stockbeare of Nicholas Bromforde of his manor of Broomford by knight service.
He died 23 Sept. John Rede is next heir, being son of Susan, daughter of William atte Waye , brother of Henry, and aged 30 years and more.
